Echosy is designed with privacy as a core principle. Your audio data never leaves your Mac.
Audio Data
All audio capture, transcription, and processing happen entirely on your device. Echosy uses on-device AI models (Qwen3-ASR, MLX Whisper) that run locally on your Mac's GPU. No audio data is ever sent to external servers for transcription.
AI Summaries
If you choose to use AI summaries, transcript text (not audio) may be sent to the LLM provider you configure (e.g., OpenAI, Gemini, Ollama). You control which provider is used, and you can use a fully local provider like Ollama to keep everything on-device.
Dictation
Universal dictation operates entirely on-device. When you use Cmd+Shift+D, your speech is processed locally and the resulting text is pasted at your cursor. No audio or text is transmitted externally.
Data Storage
Recordings, transcripts, and summaries are stored locally on your Mac in the workspace folder you choose. Echosy does not upload, sync, or back up your data to any cloud service.
License Validation
Pro license keys are validated against our servers. This check transmits only your license key — no audio, transcripts, or personal usage data is sent.
Analytics & Telemetry
Echosy does not include any analytics, telemetry, or tracking. We do not collect usage statistics, crash reports, or any other data from your device.
Website
This website (echosy.org) is hosted on Firebase Hosting. Standard web server logs may be collected by the hosting provider. We do not use cookies or third-party tracking scripts.
Purchases
Pro license purchases are processed by Stripe. Your payment information is handled entirely by Stripe and is never stored on our servers. We receive only your email address and purchase details to deliver your license key.
